Google invests in music royalty hunter Kobalt

Music Industry scene is crazy. There are thousands of artists putting out millions of songs. They have to earn royalties from them but in most cases, the reality is that if they are lucky enough to collect them they do it late, even years after.

Kobalt brings those artists a solution. A good one. Imagine how good it is that Google and Michael Dell, founder of Dell computers, have invested $60m in the leading independent music publisher company.

El video de la discordia

Esta semana ha salido a la luz una noticia que ha creado gran polémica. La Junta de Galicia financiaba, sin ningún motivo aparente, el nuevo videoclip de Enrique Iglesias. La canción, titulada “Noche y Día” pertenece al último trabajo discográfico del artista, el álbum “Sex and Love“.

Scott Vener is a multitasking guy who used to be Music Supervisor for the MTV shows Entourage, How to Make It in America and 90210 and also worked as a talent scout at MTV where he became friends with big people in the Music Biz such as Pharrell or Justin Timberlake.

Vener is now boarded on a new project, a music App he has created called ‘Undrtone’. It’s a music sharing platform that aims to be a social media platform for music fans.

The latest developments in technology have changed everything in our lives and of course it has changed our relationship with music as consumers and artist’s way to sell their music. Not only we don’t have to rely in the radios or casette / CD players anymore (we can stream every song we like any place and any time) but also we don’t need to go to physicall stores anymore, we can buy music online in seconds from the comfort of our homes.

And if you can buy them it means someone is selling it. Artist have now the opportunity of selling their music without necessarily having the support a record label. They can now do it themselves. As simple as recording and uploading, artist’s music will be out in the market for all potential costumers interested in buying it.
